GP2D12 Interface for LEGO RCX
TRINFACT

Created at Trinity College (Hartford, CT), the TrinfactorGP is an interface board
that enables the use of the Sharp
GP2D12 distance sensor with the LEGO
RCX Brick. With a GP2D12, the Trinfactor provides fast and accurate distance
measurements for the RCX microcontroller. The Trinfactor can also be used to interface any device producing a 0 to 5v output to the LEGO RCX Brick.
About the TrinfactorGP operation
The TrinfactorGP detects when the LEGO RCX sensor port is active, and then powers itself up (the power is saved while the sensor port is not active). The TrinfactorGP provides sufficient power to its attached sensor (e.g., the GP2D12) for fast response (refresh time is about 33ms). At the same time it receives the voltage signal from the sensor and converts it to proper format for RCX microcontroller. Finally it feeds the information to the microcontroller though one of the standard light ports.
